Steam Overlay El Capitain FIX Be warned this can leave you vulnerable! I am not responsible for anything happening to your computer. Hopefully Valve can use this process to help come up with an option that does not require csrutil to be disabled at all times. I know there are most likely tons of posts and complaints about this issue, but I assumed it warranted a new issue due to it being an actual work around rather than a complaint or report. Just to be clear. The process I have found to work is safe.
Released via Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (for PC and Mac) in early 2012, CS: GO expands upon the team-based action gameplay that pioneered when it was launched nearly two decades ago (CS beta 1, August 1999).
What it disables can leave you at risk. This can be easily reversed. Ok so here it goes. Feel free to experiment with the process but this is EXACTLY the steps I took to be get Steam Overlay functioning. Reboot your Mac and hold down CMD + R until your computer enters Recovery Mode. Click the Utilities menu and choose Terminal. Run the following command: csrutil -disable && reboot This will disable the csrutil and reboot your machine.
Let it reboot regularly. Open Steam. Run CSGO verify Steam Overlay is still not functional. Go to Steam - Preferences. Click the In-Game side tab. DISABLE Steam Overlay. Quit Steam.
Open System Preferences and click the Accessibility icon (1st row, 3rd to last icon). Click the Privacy Tab, and select Accessibility. Click the lock at the bottom of System Preferences, and enter your password. This will allow you to make modifications. REMOVE Steam (if it is there). Add Steam by clicking the + and go to Applications - Steam. Keep the system preferences open, and unlocked.
Start Steam, start CSGO. Steam overlay should work. TO UNDO THESE CHANGES:. Reboot your MacBook into Recovery Mode (Cmd + R). Go to Utilities-Terminal.
Type: csrutil -enable && reboot.
